Georgia Real Estate License Requirements

Everything you need to know to earn your Georgia salesperson license and start your career with eXp Atlanta. Requirements are set by the Georgia Real Estate Commission (GREC).

1

Meet the basic eligibility requirements

Be at least 18 years old, hold a high school diploma or GED equivalent, and be a lawful resident of the United States. Applicants must also have a background that meets the Georgia Real Estate Commission's (GREC) standards for honesty, trustworthiness, and integrity.

2

Complete 75 hours of approved pre-license education

Enroll in and finish a 75-hour salesperson pre-license course through a GREC-approved real estate school. Courses are offered in-person, online, and self-paced formats. You must pass the course final exam before sitting for the state exam.

3

Pass the Georgia Real Estate Salesperson Exam

Schedule your exam with PSI, Georgia's licensing exam provider. The test covers a national portion and a Georgia-specific portion. You must pass both sections with a score of 75 or higher.

4

Submit your background check

Obtain a Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC) background report from your local sheriff's office or an authorized location. The report must be dated within 60 days of your license application.

5

Apply for your license with GREC

Submit your application, exam results, background check, and license fee directly to the Georgia Real Estate Commission. Most applications are processed within a few business days.

6

Affiliate with a sponsoring broker

Your license stays inactive until you affiliate with a Georgia-licensed broker. Once you join a brokerage like eXp Atlanta, your broker activates your license through GREC and you can begin practicing immediately.

7

Complete post-license education

New Georgia licensees must complete a 25-hour post-license course within the first 12 months of licensure. Failure to complete this requirement results in license lapse.
